AJIBADE (AJI) AWOYEMI
Ajibade is consummately engaged in researching and experimenting with everyday materials and natural occurrences around him, thus mastering some techniques and styles which are markedly different to that of his early learnings at Yaba Art School. The desire for craftsmanship and technical proficiency are very integral to Ajibade’s work.
Ajibade Awoyemi was born in Lagos State in western Nigeria and had his early education in part of Ebute Metta Lagos state. From there he went to Yaba College of Technology and obtained his National Diploma and his Higher National Diploma (Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree). He then went on to complete his National Youth Service Corp program in Ebonyi State. Since 2001 he has been featured prominently in many group exhibitions both locally and internationally. His major commissions are in private and public collections in Nigeria, Dublin, United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany, Canada, and South Africa. He is a member of the Society Of Nigerian Artists. He is also a member of Defactori Art Group.
BOJUart donates a portion of each piece sold to this artist’s cause Feed the Children. This organization gives hope, dignity and comfort to those who desperately need help in the U.S. and around the world.
